Phillip Ray Sweeney “Phil” 88, of Amarillo died Saturday, December 31, 2016. Mr. Sweeney was born October 3, 1928 in Phillips, Texas to Cecil and Ada Sweeney. He married Charlene Sons in Borger on December 20, 1949. He was a dedicated husband, father and PaPa who touched many lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene; and his parents Ada and Cecil.
His survivors include two daughters Cindy Brenner and husband Mike; and Susan Sweeney all of Amarillo. Two grandchildren Brittany Byrd of Seattle, Washington, and Coleton Byrd of San Antonio, Texas; two nieces, two great nieces, one great- great niece along with many cousins.
The family asks that memorials be made to High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western St. Amarillo, Texas 79118.
