We loved Ray! He worked with my husband, Craig, at Dennis Quick on 10th years ago. He came to my house with Craig every day for lunch. Ray had to have dessert, no matter what. I was always amazed at how he kept his “youthful figure” eating all those sweets.

I’m so sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

We will miss you Paw Paw. Rest in peace 🕊️

December 27, 2025. The Smiths spending time with Paw Paw at Aunt Jay’s home

Thanksgiving 2017, Pap Paw (as we called him) came to visit Jay and I in Bandera.

Relaxing at his home. Always had a smile when you needed it

My dad was truly one of a kind. You could tell him your deepest secrets and he would never judge you nor share it with a soul. If it was broken he could fix it. If you needed him he was there. He made many close friends during his life. There were many young mechanics he mentored. His cousins have great memories of their childhood with my dad being an important part of those memories.
The last two years dad has been with John and I and we feel beyond blessed to have had that time with him. We shared many laughs, some stories, some tears, and lots of love. We knew this time would come, but there is no way to prepare. The house is so empty and our hearts are broken. They say time will heal and I hope that's true. But, right now....there are no words for these feelings. Love you Daddy.

My papa was the best. He was never angry. He was always a bright light. My favorite memories was of him asking us grandkids to pull his finger. He also would ask us to pull his ear and we would all run away knowing that next his teeth would pop out. He loved to be funny and joke around. He was so educated on any car problem you would have. He always showed up for me in anyway. Especially at my wedding and when he visited me when I moved the long distance from Albuquerque to Phoenix then to Kansas City . I will miss his hugs. His advice , just hearing him say hey sweetie and his sweet presence. He loved chocolate chip cookies I would always steal them under the cabinets. He would gross me out eating sardines lol 😂. I wish I had more time just to let him know what an impact he has made in my life and there will never be another like him. We had plans this thanksgiving and I’m so sad he went before we could experience it. Our family was simply not ready to let go. I love you papa. Rest easy…. your granddaughter…Amber

Ray was a very special guy. He helped us out for years at our car lot and became part of our family. I have so many memories of him I’d have to write a book. I made a video of him riding around in the shop on a go cart and put it on you tube but can’t find it now. He loved working on cars more than anything. One of a kind.
