Ray was born to John and Delores Kloos on April 29, 1934, in Taunton, Minnesota. He was one of seven children. Ray grew up in Minnesota with dear family and friends. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud State. It is in Minnesota where he met his love of a lifetime Agnes Kack. The two were married June 25, 1956. Ray entered the Air Force in 1955 and was honorably discharged in Amarillo, Texas in 1959. This is where Ray and Agnes shared their love of everything Texas from country music to dancing to hospitality. Anyone and everyone were welcomed into Ray’s home. He loved to have company, never letting them go away without their fill of food, fun and games.
Ray worked at Western Beef as a bookkeeper for 24 years. Always working multiple jobs, he also ran concession operations at the Amarillo Speed Bowl and then established Eastridge Liquors and later Valley Liquors. But the greatest gift he gave in life was to his family. He didn’t say a lot instead showing his kids and grandkids how to live through his actions. Intelligence, respect, hard work, love of country music and two-stepping were just a few things he bestowed upon them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delores Kloos; his brothers, Robert Kloos and Leroy Kloos; his sister, Rosemary “Tootsie” Fales and granddaughter, Alyssa Kloos.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes Kloos; brother Myron Kloos of Cold Spring, MN; sisters Margorie Breyfogle of Taunton, MN and Bonnie Hammel of Eyota, MN; four children, daughter Lynn Cain and husband Marvin of Amarillo, TX; son Brian Kloos and wife Shari of Mustang, OK; son Glenn Kloos and wife Susan of Boerne, TX; and daughter Laurie Nahrgang and husband Johnny of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren; Stacy, Stephanie, Erin, Logan, Casen, Ashley, and Tristyn; and thirteen great grandchildren; and many, many loving friends. More than this, he is survived by the memory of having touched and improved the lives of everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials to be donated to your favorite charity in honor of Raymond Kloos.
