

Robert “Buck” R. Buchanan, 87, of Amarillo, passed away on January 17, 2025. A funeral service will be held on January 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 I-40 E, Amarillo, Texas.
Robert was born on February 22, 1937, in Amarillo, Texas, to Carl and Apolonia (Paulene) Buchanan. He attended Amarillo High School, St. Mary’s Catholic School, and Price College. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he worked as a printing pressman at Miller Printing, which later became Miller National. He went on to retire from Trafton Printing.
In 1971, Robert met LaNell, and they were married on March 26, beginning a loving marriage that lasted 53 years. Robert had a deep passion for sports, particularly football and baseball. He also enjoyed fishing, joking, making people laugh, and spending time with his cat, Gator. In his free time, Robert loved listening to music and playing games on his computer.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Apolonia (Paulene) Buchanan; two brothers, Carl and Sam Buchanan; and two sisters-in-law, Martha and Charlotte Buchanan.
He is survived by his loving wife, LaNell; daughters, Rena Dunavin and husband Rusty, Jena Stultz and husband John,Teena Evenson and husband Bob and son Robert Ray Buchanan Jr. and wife Denise; brothers, Jerry Buchanan and Tommy Buchanan and wife Glenda, step daughter, Donna Ray and husband Steve; stepson, Ricky Smith; as well as nine grandchildren, Shane, Shiloh, Korey, Austin, Landon, Jason, Shanell, Tiffany, and Whitney; nineteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
