Ronney Martin, 72, of Amarillo died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones January 25, 2022. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 31, 2022 at Memorial Park Funeral home in the Chapel of Memories, 6969 I-40 East, with Jack Fuller officiating.
Ronney was born November 14, 1949 in Altus, OK to Roy and Vera Martin. He was a proud graduate of Caprock High School. He went on to work for BNSF Railroad as an engineer for 32 years. Ronney married the love of his life, Laurie, on November 14, 1990. During his life he was an adventurous person. He loved traveling with his family, fishing, shooting his firearms, and traveling on his motorcycle. He was a quiet and humble man, who could bring out the best of anyone he met. He loved his wife and children, but he especially loved all of his grandchildren. After retirement, he looked forward to all of his grandchildren’s’ sports and school events. Ronney also loved our Lord and Savior very much. He was a special, one of a kind person, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie; son, Tony Martin and wife Lisa; son-in-law, Alan Baker; daughters, Jennifer Martin, Christina McMurray and Husband Colin, Michelle Martin, and Nicole Baker; brother Otis Martin and wife Cathy; sister Shirley Gallegos and husband George; grandchildren, Charlie and Jayla Martin, Montana and Rylee McMurray, Wyatt and Westley Baker; great-granddaughter, Shiloh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vera Oak; brothers, Russell Martin and Lee Wooten.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Ronney’s name.
