Dr. Ronnie L. Smith, 83, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Celebration of Life services will be held Thursday, March 28th at 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Pastor Corky Holland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Ronnie was born to Terry and Velma Smith. He attended high school in Amarillo and attended West Texas State University, where he met Joyce Earley and married on April 4th, 1958. After completing his studies at West Texas, they moved to Fort Worth where Ronnie attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Following graduation they lived in Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Texas and New Mexico before returning to Amarillo. Ronnie was a Professor of Music, Baptist Church Music Director, Tennis Coach, player, and avid fan. He was a devoted Husband and Father, who helped Joyce baby sit and spoil his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and worshipped his savior. He always had a smile and loved everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Velma, his wife Joyce and his brother Terry.
He is survived by his sons Terry of Amarillo and Ron of Cloudcroft NM. His grandchildren, Tabitha King of Raleigh NC, and Michael Smith of Dumas TX, along with five great grandchildren.
