Friends and family will gather in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home located at 5400 Bell Ave. in Amarillo on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 2pm in the funeral home's Pioneer Chapel with Jerry Davey presiding. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Amarillo.
Roxie was born to Elmore and Eula Jane Ashley in Pike County, Arkansas, on February 8th, 1931. She married her husband, Joe Allen Millican, on September 30, 1950 in Garland, Arkansas. They had 3 children and found their home in Amarillo in 1961 where Roxie worked for the Amarillo Independent School District for 26 years. She was a faithful and active member of her church, where she loved to sing and have fellowship through good, old-fashioned country gospel. She loved to crochet and make quilts. She loved her children and was a mother and grandmother to countless friends and neighbors through the years.
Roxie was preceeded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, her eldest son, Daniel Ray Millican, and her daughter, Sheila Diann Millican.
She is survived by her son, Steven Allen Millican, 3 granddaughters: Kershawna Anderson of Wichita Falls, TX, Elizabeth Schofield of Imperial Beach California, and Tessa Richardson of Amarillo, 8 grandsons: Michael, Joseph, and Richard Millican of Imperial Beach, CA, Jeremy and Clifford Alan Green of Amarillo, Brandon Millican of Plainview, TX, Chris Millican of Lemoore, CA, and Marcus Millican of Amarillo. She had 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
