

Roy A. Champeau, 77 of Amarillo passed away July 30, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Ron Sullivan as Officiant. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Roy was born September 6, 1934 in Norman, Oklahoma to Marvin and Annie Champeau. Roy was raised in Moore, Oklahoma but also lived in Claude where he attended high school. At an early age, Roy understood the importance of a strong work ethic and he carried this on throughout his life. Roy married the love of his life, Martha Crownover on December 24, 1952 in the Fairview Community which is out of Claude. Roy worked for Santa Fe Railway and also Santa Fe Drilling in Nigeria. Roy spent time installing lawn crypts in cemeteries across the U.S., and actually installed the lawn crypts at Memorial Park Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. In 1973 Roy became self-employed, owning Champeau Enterprises. A strong work ethic defines a man and if there ever was a man that personified this, it would be Roy Champeau. Roy was also a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Carylon Kay Champeau; brother, Ralph Champeau; nephew, Paul McHenry and his parents. Roy is survived by his wife, Martha Champeau of the home; daughters, Beverly Massey and husband Lyndon and Kathy Conditt and husband David both of Amarillo; son, Danny Champeau and wife Diane of Burnet; sisters, Judy McHenry and husband Andrew and Margie Poe and husband Bennie; sister-in-law, Cindy Champeau; also by 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
