

Born April 12, 1947 to Wallace W. Plachetka and Allene E. (Hanson) Plachetka in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lived in California, Arizona, and New Mexico before settling in Amarillo, Tx. Between her freshman and sophomore years at Amarillo College, Sandy spent 1 year in Overhalla, Norway, always treasuring the memories. She returned to study elementary education and later information technology at Texas A&M. Moved to Dallas, Tx in 1988 when Atmos Energy Corp moved their corporate offices there. Retired after 24 years as corporate telecommunications manager. She moved to Post Falls, ID in 2007 immediately following retirement where she enjoyed travel, and many outdoor activities. She moved to Coeur d’Alene a couple of years ago to downsize. Sandy was a very busy woman, she attended Fellowship Bible Church in Post Falls, volunteered at Post Falls Library in the Twice Told Tales Bookstore. She was an Elections judge for many years, and served both Home Arts buildings superintendent for the Fair. She belonged to Washington State Quilters Guild, and held Tuesday morning and Thursday evening Bible Studies. Her only surviving family member is Justin Sewell of Komo, TX, but Sandy was surrounded by a strong and loving group of women from her church, Bible Studies and other pursuits.
Special thanks to Sheree Portner who stayed with her the last several weeks of her life, Denise Butzer who with Sheree made up the 3 musketeers of quilting lore. Karen and Mel who where always there to help out, Janice for dog and mail duty, Jenny who stepped in as needed and many others who just loved on her and helped every way they could. Also to Debbie Andrews who not only supported Sandy in many ways, but was able to boss her around when needed. Many thanks to Crest Home Health and Hospice for their support.
Sandy was a strong, faith filled woman who was a blessing to many.
A memorial service will be held June 28th, 3:30 PM at Fellowship Bible Church 1220 N. Idaho St, Post Falls, ID 83854
