

Shara Sue Partlow was born on April 24,1951 at St. Anthony’s Hospital on Polk Street in Amarillo, Texas. Her father was William Frank Partlow. He worked in selling advertising. Her mother was Lillie Ruth Parmley. She worked as a beautician. Shara had a brother named William Brent Partlow who was also a salesman.
Shara attended Lamar Elementary School where she was “Susie Snowflake” for the Christmas program. She also attended Wolflin Elementary School, Austin Jr. High School, Amarillo High School, Amarillo College, Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing and West Texas State University. She earned an RN diploma, BSN and MSN, (Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Family Nursing.)
She married Don Mathis Haley and had two children named David Ray Haley and Daniel Mathis Haley.
She was raised in the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. At nine years old, she was baptized. After her marriage, she became a Catholic at St. Martin de Porres Church. She was active in DCCW, St. Catherine’s at St. Mary’s, St. Gerard’s Circle and St. Faustina’s at St. Hyacinth, Catholic Daughters at St. Martin de Porres and St. Thomas Altar Guild.
She worked 50 years in nursing; 33 years in healthcare facilities, 17 years in schools of nursing and worked two jobs in later years. She also worked 12 years as substitute teacher and worked for 13 years collecting rent at Kirkland Apartments.
Shara enjoyed flowers, black and white old movies, travel and church parties. She also enjoyed her card ministry, get well and sympathy cards for relatives and friends.
