Shawn Garrett was born in Amarillo TX to Vicki and Danny Garrett on January 20th 1972, he was a graduate of Palo Duro High. After graduation Shawn worked as a DJ at Midnight Rodeo until he enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1998. After completing Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Parris Island South Carolina he went on to serve two combat tours in Afghanistan, a rotation in South Korea, and was stationed in Hawaii, and Quantico. After serving 15 years Shawn was Honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After seperating from the military Shawn went on to work at the war college at Quantico as an instructor, during that time he wrote and published his book named "500 Miles an Hour".
Shawn was a loving son, husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. Anyone who knew Shawn would say that he was a kind, and compassionate man who always had a word in do season and a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Kassandra Garrett and father Danny Garrett.
He is survived by his mother Vicki Day, Daughters Kaitlyn Young and husband Stephen Young, Rowan, Piper, and Norah Garrett, Sister Brandy Askins and husband Jon Askins, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and only grandson Beauden Young.
