Teddy "Dandy" Glenn Guy

October 4, 1936July 24, 2020

Teddy “Dandy” Glenn Guy, 83, of Amarillo, TX passed on July 24, 2020 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Ted will lie in state on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Park; 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2pm at Second Baptist Church, 419 N. Buchanan with Brother Charlie Jones and Pastor Wayne Griffin presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Hope.

Ted was born on October 4, 1936 in Geuda Springs, KS to Virgil and Bessie Mildred Marie Bliss Guy. After graduating from Deer Creek High School Ted served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960 as an Airman 2nd Class aircraft mechanic and instructor. The Air Force Base in Amarillo valued Teddy so much that they refused to let him be transferred to Germany. He married Donna E. Ewing on August 1, 1958 in Amarillo. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Ted went to work for the United States Postal Service from where he retired after 40 years.

Ted and Donna would vacation twice a year in Fun Valley in South Fork, Colorado where they would spend 2 weeks fishing in the summer and fall. We would find out many years later that Ted did not, in fact, enjoy fishing. But that’s the kind of guy Ted was. Doing for others and never once complaining. Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, his parents, and two brothers Robert Guy and Freddie Guy.

Ted is survived by his children, Laurie Hall and husband Gary of Amarillo, Richard Guy of Dallas, and Teddye and Kiley Taylor of Littleton, CO. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brooke Graves, Beth Hall, and Cameron Taylor, all of Amarillo, and Bishop Taylor of Littleton, CO.; and three great grandchildren, Dani and Weston Burtram, and Hagen Taylor.
