Thelma “June” Newberry devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away on January 31, 2019. June lived most of her life in Perryton, Texas and for the last 30+ years resided in Amarillo, Texas with her soulmate Ron Newberry. We will celebrate her life at 2:00pm February 5, 2019 at Memorial Park funeral home 6969 East I-40 Amarillo, Texas.
June was born on August 6, 1944 in Memphis, Texas to Marion & Allie Mae Stephens. She was the 5th of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings. She is survived by her spouse Ron Newberry of Amarillo, Texas, 2 sons Rick & Stacey Herring of Fort Worth, Texas, Brad & Kim Herring of Perryton, Texas, as well as 4 grandchildren Kristin Brock & husband Peter of Texas, Rachel Herring, Allie Herring also of Fort Worth Texas and Mitchell Herring of Perryton, Texas, two great granddaughters Maezlee & Aurora Herring all of Perryton, Texas. She is also survived by 4 siblings Louella Shearer, Grace Stephens, Irene Larmar, and Jimmy Stephens.
June lived her passion as a childcare provider for 50+ years. She helped raise many generations of kids and loved each one of those children. Her home was bursting at the seams with laughter and love every day of her life. Her daycare kids became family and even as adults continued to visit every chance they got and knew that they were loved. June loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on camping vacations. June also had a love for quilting. She won a blue ribbon at the state fair for her quilts. Everyone that has experienced the joy of receiving a quilt made by June knew that it was made with love.
