

Theresa Marie Sturgeon (Becquet) went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2023. Theresa was born in Garden City, KS on September 29, 1935 and moved to Amarillo in the late 1940’s. She graduated from St Mary’s in 1954. She had eight children and found the love of her life in 1982. She spent the next 41 years watching their family grow and cherishing every child, grandchild, great grandchild, and great-great grandchild that she was blessed with. She taught dance for many years and loved her students dearly. She was passionate about volunteering and truly lived to serve others. She was a devout Christian and completed the seven-year BSF program multiple times. She had a gift for writing beautiful poetry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrester Becquet and June Becquet; her siblings: Margaret Grasso, Angie Handley, and John Becquet; and her daughters Debra Hodges and Dianna Steele.
She was survived by her husband, Charles Sturgeon; her siblings: Bob Becquet, FB Becquet, George Becquet, and Michael Becquet; her children: Jerry Hodges, Timothy Hodges, Steven Hodges, Janice Miller, Jeanette Kalish, Frank Howard, Sheri Stevens, Sandy Ornelas, Kim Williams, and David Sturgeon; her grandchildren: Jay Hodges, Lilly Hodges, Jason Hodges, Raimie Hodges, Justin Hodges, Daniel Steele, David Steele, Debra Steele, Maria Morrison, Ian McIver, Malcolm McIver, Malorie McIver, Erik Healey, Melinda Barrett, Kristi Miller, Krista Cordova, Eryn Yawn, Jason Dockery, and Megan Lawrence; 21 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The viewing will be Monday, October 2nd from 9 am – 5 pm. The service will be Tuesday, October 3rd at 2 pm and will start with a graveside service to be immediately followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony inside.
Theresa had a love of serving God, family, and military (particularly veterans), which has led the family to select Operation Restored Warrior as a place for donations in lieu of flowers. Their website address is: www.operationrestoredwarrior.org.
