Rene was born on December 14, 1931, in Paducah, Texas, to Alvin and Opal Turner. On November 23, 1963, she married the love of her life, Joe Morris Sr. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage and raised five beloved children. Rene was a devoted homemaker who created a warm and welcoming home for her family. She had a gift for decorating and spent many years selling Home Interiors, sharing her creativity with others. She was also an exceptional cook who delighted in feeding family and friends. Her famous peach cobbler was a favorite that will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy it.
Rene and Joe loved traveling together in their motorhome, often making trips to the Texas Coast where they enjoyed fishing. They were also devoted dog lovers and shared their home with many cherished pets throughout their marriage. Above all, Rene loved the Lord. She faithfully attended First Family Church and lived a life of kindness, encouragement, and unwavering faith. She was deeply devoted to her family, praying for them daily and offering constant love, support, and encouragement. Her greatest joy was seeing her family grow, and she was immensely proud of each of them.
Rene is survived by her sons, Troy Hobbs and wife, Celeste, of Cleburne, Texas; Gary Hobbs of Amarillo, Texas; and Joe Morris Jr. and wife, Paula, of Amarillo, Texas; her daughters, Jeannie Butler and husband, Gary, of Amarillo, Texas, and Timi Morris of The Colony, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Frances Messer Walrath and husband Walt, and Shirley Austin Lyle.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Morris Sr., in 2014; her parents, Alvin and Opal Turner; her brother, Rev. Harold Turner; her sisters, Laverne "Tootsie" Turner, Kay Arney, and Lela Chandler; and her grandson, Tommy Butler.
Rene's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
