

Visitation will be held in Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 Interstate 40 East, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services are being held at 10am on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Southwest Church of Christ, 4515 Cornell in Amarillo. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Garden of Prayer. Victor was born in Uvalde, Texas on August 2, 1950 to Paul and Guadalupe (Ramirez) Contreras. He grew up working the family farm/ranch near Snyder, Texas until 1968. He moved to Canyon, Texas where he attended West Texas State University, now known as West Texas A&M.
In 1971, he moved to Santa Barbara, California and began working as a Journeyman Meat Cutter. He made his way back to the Texas Panhandle in 1973 landing in Amarillo where he started his own framing company.
In 1977, the Lord put on his heart to enter ministering, which saw him relocate to Lubbock, Texas to attend Sunset School of Preaching. He spent the next several years preaching the word of God in numerous locations and many congregations.
In 1982, he returned to Amarillo where he resumed his construction career as a Site Supervisor for various companies. Following his retirement, he and Lupe began a life of ministry by fostering children in their home for various organizations such as High Plains Children Home, a ministry that would span the course of 15 years.
Victor is preceded in death by his mother Guadalupe in 2013, and grandsons Raul “Brother” Ornelas III in 2013, and Michael Ysaguirre in 2016. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Guadalupe “Lupe” Contreras, son Roman Xavier Contreras and wife April, daughter Ramona Isabel Dunn and husband Ron; grandchildren Leticia Nichole Ornelas, Cecilia Merceedes Molinas, Trinity Rose Rayborn, Payton A Contreras, Victoria Isabel Contreras, and Tiana Lynn Ornelas, and great grandchildren Izaiah Ysaguirre, Emma Ysaguirre, Mila Molinas, Greyson Rayborn, Jameson Molinas, and Elam Molinas. Victor also leaves behind his father Paul Contreras, brothers Henry, Richard, Louis, and Michael Contreras; and his sister Minnie Galaviz.
