A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 29 at 2pm in the Memorial Park Cemetery, in the Garden of Court of Flowers located at 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo.
Chindy was born in El Paso, Texas on June 6, 1934 to J.E. and Esther (Freeman) Gravestock. The family relocated to Amarillo, Texas where she would grow up. In 1953, Chindy married Norman Perry and together they relocated the family to Paw Paw, Michigan where she lived for 23 years as a devoted and loving wife and mother. Chindy enjoyed gardening, her friends, and being involved each of her kid’s life activities. Norman preceded her in death on October 30, 1984, and shortly after, Chindy returned to Amarillo to be closer to family. She was employed with Anderson Merchandisers for a short time before finally retiring.
Chindy was preceded in death by her father J. E. Gravestock in 1983, mother Esther Gravestock in 1990, her beloved Norman in 1984; brothers Bill, Jack, and Bob Gravestock and sisters Fern, Jerry, Betty, Stella and Barbara. Those left to cherish Chindy’s memories are her daughter Dee Perry of Amarillo, sons Caylen Perry of Panhandle, and Shane and wife Pam Perry of Melbourne, Florida; brothers Richard Gravestock of Amarillo, and Larry Gravestock of Fountain Valley, California, and sister Pat Hargis of Gig Harbor, Washington. Chindy also leaves behind two grandchildren, Heather Redfield and husband Colby of Tallahassee, Florida, and Matthew Perry and wife Brooke of Palm Bay, Florida; and her four great grandchildren Connor and Archer Redfield, and Paisley and Hadley Perry; and many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and dear friends.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Interim Hospice at www.interimhealthcare.com/amarillotx in honor of Chindy. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Center and her loving caregivers Roma, Nadine, Adrian, Monica, Omoro, and Erica for the wonderful care they provided for our mother.
