Walker "Steve" Weathers, 66, of Amarillo died Friday, June 14, 2013. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 18, 2013 in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Pioneer Chapel with Kyle Pope of Olsen Park Church of Christ officiating.
Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Steve was born May 21, 1947, in McAllen to Cleo and Juanita Weathers and raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1967.
Steve married Carol Ford in 1972. He was a mechanic by trade working for Toyota, Asarco, and at the time of his retirement in 1991, he was working for Excell Helium Plant. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and bragging on them to everyone. He was a member of Olsen Park Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Colton Weathers;
and his father-in-law, Merle Ford. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ford Weathers of Amarillo; a son,
Randy Weathers and wife Lori of Amarillo; a daughter, Melody Weathers Merket and husband Johnny of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Betty Hohle and husband Jimmy of Pearl Land, Barbara Teel and Sue Walkup and husband Kent, all of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Maci Weathers of Amarillo and Harmony Merket of Wichita Falls.
