Wanda Hays Flanagan, 81, of Amarillo died Thursday, May 9, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Wanda was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Amarillo to Andrew and Lillie Hays. She was a dedicated nurse for many years and worked at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Amarillo, Dallas, Albuquerque, N.M., Seattle and Memphis, Tenn. She was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and always volunteered her time to the organization. Wanda was always a lively person and was someone who never met a stranger. She was very much a people person. Wanda was a loving and caring woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Harley Wayne Flanagan; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include her son, Sean Flanagan; a grandson, Harley Francis Flanagan; and two great-grandchildren, Harley Karsten Flanagan and Jonah Odin.
