Willie Ellis

Willie Ellis, 88 of Amarillo passed away November 23, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Gemma Reyes officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Willie was born October 5, 1924 in Collin County, Texas. She married John B. Ellis on July 25, 1942 in Wichita Falls. Willie was an LVN and also a farmer’s wife, living in Cottle County. She loved crafts and was good with her hands, especially sewing and knitting. She enjoyed history novels as well as westerns. Being a nurse, she loved to take care of people and had such a loving and giving heart. She was known as “Grandma” to her grandchildren and as “G.G.” to her great-grandchildren. Willie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed. Willie was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Ellis; her parents; and a daughter, Tammie Stinson. Willie is survived by her daughters, Loretta Hayes and husband Jerry of Denver, Colorado and Peggie Newman and husband Roger of Springfield, Ohio; sister, Leona Proffitt of Childress; brother, Wilmer Spurlock of Echo, Oregon; eight grandchildren, John Newman, Jim Hayes, Jeff Hayes, Paula Sue Newman, Susan Rowe, Catrina Melton, Misty Wilkerson and Erica Stinson; also by her 14 great-grandchildren.
