We gathered with unspeakable grief and disbelief to collect our thoughts and try to describe James and all the he shared with us, as well as what we have learned from him.
James was a devoted son, patient grandson a loving brother and respectful nephew awesome cousin and a compassionate friend. His spirit was significant. He had the knowing of an angelic soul that went beyond the norm in all aspects of his life.
As a child he was athletic. Guarding the plate as an outstanding catcher, baseball came easily to James. Common childhood scrapes and cuts healed but didn't change his passion to seek new thrills or explore the outdoors, find the highest object to climb.
As be became a young man he developed new passions and mechanical talent for car and household repairs, skills which he donated to his family and friends. As an upstanding young man his ambitions led him through doors of opportunity to his career with Fidelity Title.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with his beloved family and friends. At the core of this nature with his deep passion for life and happiness. Whether you knew James for a minute or a lifetime, once he flashed you his smile, you had a memory for life. He had a great sense of humor and graced many with his pranks, which we now know are one of the many gifts he left us to cherish.
He was strong young man of character and respect which brought many meaningful relationships and friendships into his life. He was comfortable in any crowd, culture or environment and would leave with new friends because of his ability to interact with integrity. He was a young man constantly striving to better his life. His compassion was unwavering as he became a care provider for this grandmother, always thinking of her needs before his own.
James was a devoted son and made time for this father and extended family who were another meaningful part of his life. He was fortunate to be able to live both in Oklahoma with his father and in California with his mother.
His compassion was consistent when he recently told his mother "Just promise me you will never give up."
We raise our sons with hope of creating men, and then we let them go live their life. The miracle in James will continue to unfold. He left us as a great young man. We must never give up.
