Salomon Refugio Federico - October 7, 1936 - April 22, 2021

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, Salomon Federico, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 84. Salomon was born on October 7, 1936 in Los Angeles, California and spent most of his formative years in Los Angeles before serving his country in the US Army as an SP4 with a specialty as a sharpshooter, marksman and was awarded the medal for good conduct. Salomon found work in the shipyards of San Pedro and later became an Electrical Repairer for the LA Department of Water and Power. He married his wife Christina in 1974 and had two children, Vanessa and Paul.

After 26 years of helping generate power he retired and enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He loved visiting his favorite playground, Las Vegas but had a soft spot for New York. He was a kind, caring, and witty person who we will miss immensely.

Salomon was preceded in death by his wife Christina and is survived by his 2 children, Vanessa and Paul, his brother Daniel, a niece, a nephew and several cousins.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel in Anaheim located at 2425 West Lincoln Ave Anaheim, CA 92801.

Biography

Sal was born on October 7, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA. His parents Refugio and Josephine raised him and his brother Daniel in Los Angeles.

He then joined the Army and served in the 17th Artillery from 1958 to 1960 at Fort Sill Oklahoma and was a Sharpshooter and a Marksman. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of SP4 E4. He also received several awards including a Good Conduct Medal.

After the Army Sal started work in the the shipyards of San Pedro and then was employed for 26 years by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as an Electrical Repairer.

Sal met Christina who he married in 1974 and they were later blessed with two children, one daughter, Vanessa and one son, Paul. They were also blessed with two grandchildren, Paul and Marcus.

During is employment with the DWP, Sal worked at several power generating facilities including Hoover Dam. When not working he enjoyed his leisure time watching football, betting on the ponies, and going to Las Vegas. In addition to Las Vegas, favorite vacations also included Hawaii and New York.

Sal was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of Sal's favorites was Rey, a short hair calico cat.

As someone who enjoyed harmony and quiet, Sal accepted retirement and made the most of it. That day finally came in June of 2004. His new life involved spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Sal could be quiet and reserved, but his style of communication was authentic and direct. Though he could be a private person at times, Sal was always able and willing to give of himself. His sensitivity, kindness and generous attitude made him a wonderful person for all who knew him. Family and friends will remember Sal for his compassion and generosity.

On April 22, 2021, Sal passed away at Kaiser Hospital, Anaheim, CA. He fought a brave battle against heart related issues and other complications. He is survived by his children Vanessa and Paul, his grandchildren Paul and Marcus, his brother Daniel, and a niece, nephew, many cousins, and his cat. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel in Anaheim located at 2425 West Lincoln Ave Anaheim, CA 92801.
