My heart cried when I found out you left us, Shirley.  You have lent your strength to so many, and I will always remember your ability to make others laugh.  Those who were your students or those who have worked with you have been truly blessed.

My deepest condolences. I just found Shirley in my search for family history, I am a Tumey relative. She was so surprised I had found her and wrote me a letter I will cherish forever. I waited too long to write back, may she rest in peace.

Shirley, you were the mother of my best friend and was always there for me for over 40 years. You were the wife of my best golfing buddy and you were my best late night Colorado River camping buddy. Knowing you are with John now has lifted such a weight from my soul. Im so lucky that the last words we ever said to each other were "I Love You"

Shirley was our dear next door neighbor for 22 years.  She encouraged me to be a librarian and shared her love of books & travel.  I cherish my memories of chatting over the fence with her.   I count myself blessed to call her my friend.  I rejoice that she is finally free from pain and has joined her beloved Irv & John.  I will miss you my dear friend and you were right, cruising is the best way to travel.

So sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful 5th grade teacher. We still quote her, "Cakes are done...people are finished!" God bless her and you all.

Shirley, Irv and John were wonderful neighbors--Shirley for almost 50 years.  We will miss her.

I have such very fond memories of you as my 5th grade teacher. I was a tomboy in school... still am. One day I made some extra efforts to style my hair, and you paid me a sweet compliment. You were such a caring educator. I still remember the many good books you would read us while we had our heads down after lunch. Later I would read the novel Matthew, Mark, Luke and John about orphan boys to my own two sons.God bless you and your loved ones.

Mrs. Horger was my favorite school librarian. Library visits were always the highlight of the school week.  I remember her telling us about her "boyfriend" Melvil Dewey. I also remember her husband Irv popping up from behind a bookcase when she would say that.  We always knew she was joking but I will always remember that happening. She was a very wonderful person with a beautiful soul.  She was one of the few other people who made me love to read a book.

I miss you so much, Shirley.
