Marilyn, I couldn't have said it better. I also loved swimming in their pool in the summer. There's so much more I remember. I remember the rocket that got away on the 4th of July. We had to pick up our feet. So many great memories.

I remember my Aunt Polly as always having a smile on her face and her laughter! When I was small and our family visited her and my Uncle Jim, I had so many great memories there of 4th of July, Halloween parties, and family get-togethers. I will truly miss her as someone who loved life and her family!

Biography

Virginia Cecelia Binckley, affectionately known as “Polly,” of Anaheim, California, was called from this life on September 30, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 90 years old.

Virginia was the fifth of six children born to Gustav Nagy and Maria Bohan Nagy on April 27th, 1930, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Her siblings, Mary Ann, Gus, Irene, Helen and Frank doted on her and encouraged her to always pursue her dreams. Virginia not only excelled academically, but was also gregarious, athletic, and so loved the theater. After graduating from high school in 1948, Virginia went on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree from New Haven Teachers’ College and headed west to Long Beach, California, where she planned to “make it big” as an actress. It was here that she also got her first assignment as an elementary school teacher.

Not long afterward, however, Virginia’s plans changed when she met Jim Binckley, truly the love of her life. The two were married at St. George’s Catholic Church on August 20, 1955 in Ontario, California and would remain so for the next sixty-two and a half years. They settled down in Anaheim, where they raised their six children, Mary, Joseph, Patricia, Thomas, Barbara, and Bobby, all the while deepening their own love, faith, and devotion to God and one another as each precious year passed by.

Although Virginia took time off from teaching, she eventually went back into the profession as a preschool educator, working close to twenty years at this level before retiring.

Virginia and Jim loved to go places and it was in their retirement that they were finally able to travel the world. They loved to go on cruises and did so on numerous occasions.
Virginia and Jim were also long-time parishioners of St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church in Anaheim and always enjoyed going to Mass together.

Virginia is survived by her son, Thomas Binckley, daughters, Mary (James) Butler, Patricia (David) Evans, Barbara (Joseph) Katzaroff, brother, Gus Nagy, brother-in-law, Basil (Sally) Binckley, brother-in-law, Bill Binckley, sister-in-law, Theresa Byrne, eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Binckley, sons, Joseph and Bobby Binckley, sisters, Mary Ann and Helen Nagy, sister, Irene Kiscka, brother, Frank Nagy, and parents, Maria and Gustav Nagy.

Virginia was loved by so many people and will be dearly missed by those who knew her gentle and charming spirit. May God grant her nothing but peace and true happiness for all eternity.
