Audre Marie (Dvorak) Ferrier, 87, met her savior face-to-face on September 9, 2021, at her home in Ankeny, IA.
Audre was born to Charles and Emma (Cacek) Dvorak on April 17, 1934, in Barneston, NE. She graduated from Barneston High School in 1951 and completed two years of college at the University of Nebraska. Audre was united in marriage to Benjamin Ellis Ferrier, Jr. on March 11, 1956. Together they raised four children. In high school, Audre was President of the Gage County Nebraska Make-it and Mend-it 4-H Club and won the Gage County 4-H Public Speaking Competition two years in a row. Later in life she was a member of the Slater Baptist Keenagers and Perky Penguins. Audre will be remembered as a devout Christian, an accomplished pianist, avid reader, talented seamstress, famous cinnamon-roll-maker, Gopher Women’s Hockey Fan and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Audre is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Verne (Helen) Dvorak and Kenneth (Phyllis) Dvorak; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, April Ellis, John Ferrier, Edward (Kimberly) Ferrier, and Annette (Jefferey) Voegtlin; grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Sutton, Noelle Sutton, Megan (Ivan) Penaloza, Benjamin Ferrier, Andrew (Christa) Ferrier, and Jessica (Jim) Hunt, Chelsea Ferrier; and great-grandchildren, Connor and Caroline Sutton, and Harper and Ian Penaloza.
A visitation will be held at Slater Baptist Church (601 Story St., Slater IA 50244) on Friday, September 17, from 5 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be at Slater Baptist Church on Saturday, September 18, at 11 AM. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial at Polk City Cemetery.
