Clyde Eudean (Dean) Allison

May 6, 1946December 9, 2011

Clyde Eudean Allison (Dean), 65, of Ankeny passed away December 9, 2011 at home surrounded by his supportive wife and children after a long battle with cancer.

Dean was born on May 6, 1946 to Clyde and Fern (Lash) Allison. He attended Corydon Schools where he enjoyed sports of all kinds. He then attended Centerville Community College and Drake University. His graduation from Drake was delayed by two years while he served his country which included a tour of duty in Vietnam.

His life was forever changed when he met and married Dorothy Miller in 1973. He spent his career in the moving & storage business from which he retired in 2003. Dean was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but had a love for the New York Yankees, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers- although if it was sports- Dean would be watching. In his younger years he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. Dean cherished the people around him as much as the sporting event or gathering, where he always brought laughter to the party, and was the last to leave. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, daughter Michelle (Matthew) Bennett, son Cory (Staci) and two beautiful granddaughters, Lily Ann Elizabeth and Ellanore Marie, who brought a huge smile to grandpa’s face right up to the end.

In honoring Dean’s memory please continue to leave messages on the Voice Quilt and in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Mercy Hospice of Central Iowa or Dr. Richard Deming Charitable Foundation.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. 1st St. in Ankeny. A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Dorothy and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I last saw Dean and John when they came to Mac's memorial gathering in Des Moines in the fall of 1997. Dean truly did have a great smile and contagious laughter that I will always remember. My prayers to you and your family at this time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Dean was a schoolmate and basketball teammate. We even shared some time riding the school bus. Dean could make me laugh, just with HIS laugh!! May you take some solace in knowing that he was a friend to everyone who knew him.

Dorothy, we were so sorry to learn of your loss. We have fond memories of the Allison family. Clyde & Fern were great neighbors. In working back & forth with them and visiting, it was pretty obvious that Deanie and his family were the light of their life, Ron & Marilyn Wilson

Guy's like Deanie only come along once in a lifetime. He had a infectious smile and laugh and had the ability to make friends in any crowd. I went to school and graduated with Deanie and had occasion to run around with him, he was a blast. My deepest condolences to his family and friends for their loss.
