Colleen Joy Gunnarson

Thank you for joining in the celebration of life for Colleen (Weuve) Gunnarson, who passed away on January 9, 2010. Born March 23, 1963 to Glenn and Irene Weuve, Colleen grew up in State Center, Iowa and graduated from West Marshall High School in 1981. Colleen married Bob Gunnarson on May 2, 1992. Colleen was greatly loved by all who knew her as a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, wife, aunt, godmother, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, friend, and co-worker. She added beauty to the world with her lively and humorous spirit and personality. Her love, generosity and enduring presence in our memories will be cherished by all who knew her. Colleen worked at Principal Financial Group for a number of years. She was passionate about her work, dedicated to her tasks, and enjoyed her co-workers and customers. Colleen was the youngest of six children. She is survived by her husband, Bob, sisters; Sharon Davis, Teresa (Randy) Wright, Debbie (Craig) Rohrer, Denise (Michael) Woolums; brother, Steven (Cindy) Weuve; brother-in-law, Rich (Jan) Gunnarson; sister-in-law, Marcia Gering; mother-in-law, Delores Gunnarson; several nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Irene Weuve, and her brother-in-law, Steven Davis. Colleen's presence in the lives of those who loved and enjoyed life with her will be greatly missed, but her vibrant spirit will remain forever in our hearts. She is loved so very much. Please join the family for a memorial visitation on Wednesday, January 13, 5 to 8 p.m., at Ankeny Funeral Home, (1510 W. First St.) in Ankeny. Colleen's memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 14, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines Street) in Ankeny, with burial at a later date in Ankeny Memorials Garden. Memorial gifts may be directed to the family for donation to the charity of their choice.
