David Jorgensen

David Edward Jorgensen, age 78, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. He was born on April 13, 1947, to Leonard and Madge (Anderson) Jorgensen in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 1:00pm to 3:00 pm at the Ankeny Funeral Home.

David grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He competed in bowling competitions and graduated. From there, he joined the United States Navy and was deployed to Japan and served many tours in Vietnam. He spent time in a submarine for well over 100 days, served multiple flight missions during his tour, and other adventures during his time in the Navy.

He met Candice “Candy” in 1977, and they were married in 1979. Soon after, they began their family. David Michael was born in October of ’80, and Amanda was later born in December of ’83. The family lived in Des Moines, and David worked at PerMar Security and later, Principal Financial Group Security.

David taught basic life support and first aid at Mercy College of Health Sciences for many years. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. He and Candy enjoyed garage-saleing with the grandkids, or spoiling them whenever they could.

David is survived by his children; David Michael (Bella) Jorgensen and Amanda (Jamie) Jorgensen-Razor; three grandchildren, Gwen Razor, Dillon Jorgensen, and Ronan Jorgensen;

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Candy Jorgensen; his parents, Leonard and Madge Jorgensen; his sister, Manda Sue Shehan; and his furry friend, Auggie
