David Marshall Winders

Ankeny, IA David Marshall Winders, 76, passed away on April 3, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25th from 11 AM to 2 PM. David was born on July 30, 1945, to Marshall and Helen (Robbins) Winders in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1963. After graduation, David served four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. David retired from John Deere Des Moines Works in 2005. David enjoyed his time at the Iowa Great Lakes golfing, boating, and fishing, and following Iowa State and University of Iowa football and basketball. David is survived by his wife, Wendy Winders of Ankeny, IA; four daughters, Shelley (Mark) Koons of Newton, IA, Jennifer (Angelo) Martinez of St. Augustine, FL, Christine (Keith) Lydon of Ankeny, IA, and Nicole (Lou) Schwalbach of Ankeny, IA; grandsons, Tyler and Nicholas Martinez of St. Augustine, FL; and siblings, Dennis (Donna) Winders and Cheryl Dykes. David is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Helen Winders, and in-laws, Donald and Betty Kolpin. Memorial contributions can be addressed to David Winders' family for later distribution.
