

Don Phillip Quinn, 65, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from cancer at home with his wife and children by his side. He was born in Ames, Iowa to John Robert and Marybelle (Hemping) Quinn.
Don graduated from Ankeny High School in 1973 and attended the welding program at DMACC. He retired from John Deere Des Moines Works in 2004 after working as a production welder for over 30 years. After spending six years at Lake of the Ozarks, Don and Lee Ann returned to Ankeny. Don taught welding at DMACC Southridge in the Workforce Training Academy, which he greatly enjoyed.
In his free time, Don enjoyed fishing and loved riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, Olivia and Caitlyn. He always had a story to tell and never lost his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lee Ann (Hellmann) Quinn; daughter, Sarah (Josh) Seemann; son, Dan Quinn; granddaughters, Olivia and Caitlyn Seemann; sister, Kathleen Campisi; brother, Kelly Quinn (Linda Clearwater); and his dachshund, Belle. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the family.
