Donna Rae Carman
June 9, 1939 – August 18, 2019
Donna was born June 9, 1939, to Clifford and Edna Doubleday on the family farm 1/2 mile east of Elkhart, Iowa. Donna was the oldest of four children; Lew Doubleday (Connee) Ankeny, Iowa, Sharon Nelson, Ames, Iowa, and DeWayne Doubleday (Joy) Mesa, AZ. She has four children, Denny, Mark, and twins Kristi and Kerry. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donna married Paul Carman, May 25, 1957. They lived in Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas while Paul served four years in the Air Force. They moved back to their home town of Elkhart, Iowa. They later moved to Ankeny and West Des Moines, After Paul's retirement from John Deere in 1993 they moved to Green Valley, AZ for 10 years and then to Sun City West for 17 years.
Donna was a very productive person. She loved decorating her home. She was a meticulous house keeper. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed children and often volunteered to work in the children's department of her church. Her favorite pastime was shopping. Donna worked numerous part time jobs, she concluded her working career at Equitable Life Insurance Co.
Donna went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 17, 2019. The reason I said that is because in 1961 Donna had a second birth spiritually as it tells in the Bible in John 7:3 You must be born again. Donna experienced that when she gave her heart to Jesus. Now she is seeing Jesus face to face. What a glorious thing. Praise God!!
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Edna Doubleday; niece, Staci Doubleday and brother in law, Bill Nelson.
There will be a visitation and viewing for Donna at Ankeny Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 5 PM until 7 PM. Her graveside service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 2 PM at Byers Cemetery or better known as the Cory Grove Cemetery.
