

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Duane was born in Des Moines on September 28, 1951 to Vaden and Elsie (Gray) Buster. He grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School in the class of 1969. Following graduation, Duane met the love of his life, Kathy Gibbons and they were united in marriage on October 3, 1970 in Ames. The couple made their home in Ankeny and are blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Abigail. Duane was employed for over twenty years as a Transportation Supervisor at Casey’s General Stores. After retirement he stayed active by working at TNT Landscape during the summers.
Duane was a faithful member with tournament hunting with several organizations for many years. He also was an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman, Chicago Bears and Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Besides his hobbies, Duane had a teaching nature, and was always kind, generous, and a handyman for all. Most of all, he loved spending time with Kathy, his daughters, grandchildren, and German Shorthair dogs who all held a special place in his heart, especially his “Brown Dog” Jessie.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kathy; daughters, Stephanie (John Davis) Buster and Abigail (David) Freerksen; five grandchildren, Paige, Madison, Colton, Clayton, and Brianna; mother, Hazel Buster; siblings, Lee (Debbie), Larry, Randy (Rilda), John (Jo); sisters, Jean (Greg), and Lorna. Survivors also include his mother-in-law, Grace Gibbons; brother-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Gibbons; sister-in-law, Dixie Gibbons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaden and Elsie Buster; brothers, Rusty Aunspach and Mark Aunspach; paternal grandparents, Loren and Nina Buster; father-in-law, Howard Gibbons; and brother-in-law, David Gibbons.
