Dwaine H. Thompson

Dwaine H. Thompson, age 77, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Services will be on January 13th, at Ankeny Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 11 am with a Memorial Service at noon. Burial will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa following the service at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Dwaine was born and grew up in Chariton, Iowa to Everett and Alberta Thompson, and was the brother to Barbara, Cleta, and Johnnie.

He enjoyed being at home with his siblings and parents on the farm where he enjoyed riding their painted horses. Dwaine and his siblings, had other livestock to keep them busy with their chores. Unfortunately, their mother, Alberta, passed away when Dwaine was 12 years old. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1963 and from there he signed up to serve in the United States Navy; where he served four years. He was honorably discharged, and from there he went on to work at the telephone company until his retirement.

After the Navy, Dwaine, got married to Sue Manning, and together they raised two boys. Clint and Chad brought joy and happiness to Dwaine's life. They very much enjoy doing outdoor things together and throwing the ball around to each other; just spending time together was important. Dwaine enjoyed taking his family to church and reading his Bible at home. He enjoyed talking to people and making new friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Dwaine is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Clint and Chad Thompson; sister, Cleta; and brother, Johnnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara.
