Edward "Ed" Ferrier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, missionary, businessman, and friend, passed away on June 12, 2026, at the age of 58. Ed was born on December 23, 1967, in Edina, Minnesota, to Benjamin and Audre (Dvorak) Ferrier. Ed accepted Christ as his Saviour at the age of 14, and that faith changed him for the rest of his life. He lived by faith with a tireless work ethic, and a love for people. He demonstrated a strong faith, a tireless work ethic, and a love for people that would define the rest of his life.
After graduating from high school, Ed attended Fairhaven Baptist College, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Theology. While preparing for ministry, he met the love of his life, Kim Hodge. The two were married on May 25, 1990, in Chesterton, Indiana, and together built a Christ-centered home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Their marriage was blessed with five children, who remained the joy and pride of his life.
In 1995, Ed and his family answered God's call to missions and moved to Zambia, Africa, where they faithfully served for ten years. During their missionary service, Ed devoted himself to sharing the Gospel, serving others, and investing in the lives of countless people. His years in Zambia reflected his deep commitment to the Lord and his desire to live out God's Word in practical ways. Upon returning to the United States in 2005, Ed founded Ed Ferrier Construction, LLC, where he worked as a contractor and business owner. He loved his work and took great pride in teaching, mentoring, and training new employees. Whether on a construction site or in everyday life, Ed was known for his patience, generosity, and willingness to help others succeed.
Above all else, Ed loved the Lord. He truly embodied the teachings of Scripture and sought to demonstrate God's love through his actions every day. His faith was not merely something he professed, it was evident in the way he served, gave, worked, and cared for those around him. He was known as an extremely giving man, a hard worker, and someone who could always be counted on when help was needed. Ed was also a man who knew how to enjoy life. He loved spending time with his family and embraced his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Family game nights were among his favorite activities, especially when they involved strategy. His favorite game was Settlers of Catan, and he delighted in gathering family and friends around the table for friendly competition. A gifted cook and gracious host, Ed loved feeding people. His family fondly remembers the time he purchased an entire pig to roast on a spit for a gathering, simply because he enjoyed bringing people together. His paella became legendary among family and friends, and his home was often filled with laughter, conversation, and good food. Photography was another passion. Ed especially loved capturing candid moments of his family, preserving memories through his lens. He enjoyed street photography and further developed his skills through photography classes in Los Angeles and Chicago. He also had a deep appreciation for opera and classical music and maintained an extensive music collection. An enthusiastic collector, Ed enjoyed seeking out and preserving unique treasures. Over the years, his collections included Toyota Land Cruisers, jet skis, antique firearms, antique cameras, coins, and, most recently, golf clubs. Each collection reflected his curiosity, appreciation for craftsmanship, and enjoyment of life's adventures.
Ed was a faithful and active member of Pleasantville Baptist Church, where he served and worshiped with dedication. His church family knew him as a man of unwavering faith, genuine kindness, and steadfast commitment to Christ. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his legacy of faith, service, generosity, and love will continue through the many lives he touched. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Savior, whom he faithfully served throughout his life.
Ed will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving wife of 36 years, Kim Ferrier (Hodge); his children, Megan (Ivan) Penaloza, Benjamin Ferrier, Andrew (Christa) Ferrier, Jessica (Jim) Hunt, and Chelesea Ferrier; his grandchildren, Harper Penaolza, Ian Penaolza, Hudson Hunt, Parker Hunt, and the Hunt twin babies; his siblings, April Ellis, John Ferrier, Annette (Jeff) Voegtlin; his niece and nephew, Adam Sutton and Noelle Sutton; his church family; friends; and all whose lives were blessed by his example.
