Edward Evan Markow was born on October 11, 1946, to Edward and Anna Katherine (Babich) Markow in Montebello, California. He graduated from Rosemead High School in 1964 in California. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 when he was honorably discharged. Edward then graduated from Rio Hondo College where he obtained his master’s degree.
After college, Edward worked at Brinks Security and then AT&T. He then moved to Iowa to work at Information Tools Inc. in Des Moines. Edward was united in marriage to Trisha Ellis on August 6, 2005, in Florissant, Missouri in Trisha’s mother’s backyard. Edward retired from Information Tools Inc. in 2010. Then he worked part time at Durham School Services in Ankeny as a bus driver.
Edward enjoyed riding motorcycles with the American Legion Riders Post 663, and he was known to the other riders as “Grumpy”. Edward dearly loved spending time with his family and friends and doting on his daughter, Ava.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Markow. He is survived by his wife, Trisha Ann Markow; daughter, Ava Markow; brothers, Mark (Peggy) Markow and Bill (Susie) Markow; sister, Marianne (Don) Smith, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown in loving memory of Edward.
The family would like to thank the Iowa Veterans Home Staff for the level of care that they showed Edward during his time in Marshalltown.
