Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50023. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. The burial will be in Polk City Cemetery immediately following the service.
Edwin Leo Mohler was born on November 22, 1936, to Clarence “Babe” H. and Mabel (Palmquist) Mohler. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. Following High School, he attended Drake University, Grand View University, and Northwest Missouri State University. Ed enlisted into the Army National Guard on February 4, 1959, and served until February 3rd, 1966. While in the ANG he earned a Marksman Badge.
On June 11, 1960, Ed was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Owens in West Des Moines, Iowa at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. There was one child to this union, Mark. Ed dearly loved going pheasant and turkey hunting. He also liked to spend time fishing, especially for white bass. Ed was known for his homegrown tomatoes. He would hand pick tomatoes for those he would share them with. Ed was a lifetime member of Pheasants Forever. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Federation. Ed had a love for pets, either his or his loved one’s.
Ed is survived by his son, Mark (Robyn) Mohler of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Travis (Jocelyn) Mohler of Grimes and Courtney Mohler of Grimes; three great grandchildren, Leo, Ruby and Cambree and brother, John Mohler of Rancho Mirage, CA. Ed was preceded by his wife, Sharon Mohler, and his parents.
