Esther H. Eft

Esther Ruth (Howell) Eft died peacefully at her residence in Clive, Iowa on February 8, 2023. She was born on August 4, 1922, to Henry Martyn Howell and Ella Mae (Sheppard) Howell, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. She was the oldest of three sisters.

Esther married her high school sweetheart, John Oakford Eft, Jr (1922-2009) on January 1, 1943, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. She worked as a secretary for various organizations in Bridgeton, NJ; Secane, PA; Denver & Lakewood, CO, retiring from the State of Colorado as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Juvenile Court; and eventually moved to Clive, IA to be near her son and granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, her parents, both her sisters, Janet Evans & Lavinia Mickle, and one Great Grandchild, Ashley Stout.

She is survived by sons Alan (Cindy) Eft & John (Kathie) Eft, and daughter Diane Wolfe, along with four Grandchildren: Scott (Sarah) Eft, Jennifer (Mike) Bowman, Neil (Celeste) Eft, Corrine (Gary) Stout, and seven Great Grandchildren: Gustin & Ryleigh Klindt; Shaelyn, Makenna, & Abigail Eft; and Tyler & Trevor Stout.

Her ashes will join those of her husband, to be buried in Colorado.
