A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ankeny Funeral Home, located at 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, IA 50023. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location. Following the funeral, a committal service will be held at Elkhart Cemetery, 531 E Walnut St, Elkhart, IA 50073, from 11:20 am to 11:35 am. A time of food and fellowship will occur at Elkhart Christian Church, 252 NW Washington Ave, Elkhart, IA 50073, from 11:45 am to 1:45 pm.
Fred was born on July 15, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Frederick Dean and Marilyn Joanne (Merrick) Allgood. Fred graduated from Ankeny High School in 1975. After high school, he worked for the Fence Company and later Fred worked for Baker Electric Corp and he was just a grunt on the jobsite until he became the warehouse manager. He left Baker Electric in 2004 and became a truck driver for J & J Delivery driving truck mostly to the east coast and back to Iowa. He then went to work for Whole Foods in the warehouse and in 2016 was called back by the Control Installations of Iowa, where he was the warehouse manager for the automatic door division. He retired from Control Installations March 31, 2023.
Fred loved everything to do with the outdoors, either fishing, hunting or mushroom hunting, he loved to spend time in the woods or near a good fishing hole. Fred was a great caregiver and loved doing things for his friends and family and anyone who needed his help. He was a great cook and liked to share his favorite foods with his family and friends. Fred was an avid golfer. He also liked to disc golf as well. Fred was amazing at horseshoes and was known to compete in the Iowa Senior Games and the State Fair.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Becky Allgood; brother, Mike (Randi) Allgood; sister, Sandra Allgood and several nieces and nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marilyn (Gary) Jacoway, his father, Frederick Dean Allgood, and brother, Rick Allgood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family in loving memory of Fred.
