Irline Capehart

Irline A. Capehart, 95, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Sunnyview Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St. Ankeny). Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Sunnyview Care Center.

Irline Alma was born December 6, 1921, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Irl and Myrtle (Bancroft) West. She was raised in Boone, IA and graduated from Glidden High School in Glidden, IA. Irline was united in marriage to Ervin F. Spratt on February 2, 1940. He passed away November 11, 1979. She was later remarried to Glen Capehart on April 10, 1996 and he passed away in 1998. Irline lived in the Elkhart area most of her life, staying at home raising her five children, David W., Niles F., Thomas I., Barbara J. and Debra K.

Irline was a member of Elkhart Christian Church for almost 50 years. She also worked at Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny and the North Polk Community Schools. Irline had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in her church choir; she also sang during many funerals.

Irline will be missed by her children: David (Donna) Spratt of Elkhart, Thomas (Tai) Spratt of Elkhart, and Barb (Jim) Angstead of Buena Vista, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ervin and Glen, daughter, Debra Stidham, Son, Niles “Rick” Spratt and a granddaughter Danna Spratt.
