Janet Faye Clevenger

Janet Faye Clevenger, 87, passed away on December 27, 2021. A memorial service will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30, from 4 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be held at Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon, IA on Monday, January 3 at 11:00 AM.

Janet Lowe was born to Terry and Velma (Nandell) Lowe on September 4, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, IA as the fourth oldest child out of twelve. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Wilson High School. Janet was joined in marriage to John Clevenger on January 13th, 1965. She worked for Northwestern Bell, eventually retiring from US West. After retirement, she worked for IMT Insurance for a short time. Janet enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and gatherings with the Red Hat Local Ladies. Janet loved all animals but was truly fascinated with Dalmatians. This ranged from owning one (Mercedes) to various decorations, statues, stuffed animals, and costumes. Most importantly, Janet loved being a grandma and spending her time with her grandchildren. When it came to asking her for a meal or even a favorite treat, there was no hesitation. She would tell you one of these: a steak, pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, diet Pepsi, and for candy, a good old Snickers! Janet will be remembered as a kind-hearted soul. She will be missed by many.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, John Clevenger; her parents, Terry and Velma Lowe; brothers, Eugene, Clayton, and Ronald Lowe.

Janet is survived by her children, Barb (Lisa Davidson) Ribeiro and Cory Clevenger; grandchildren, Nickolas Ribeiro, Hailey Clevenger, Sydney Clevenger, and Kaci Clevenger; siblings, Jack (Ruth) Lowe, Judy (Richard) Manning, Roger (Shirley) Lowe, Tom (Sandy) Lowe, Doug (Laurie) Lowe, Carol (Rick) Allard, Nancy (Larry aka Gunner) Suchomel, and Delores (Walter) Musel, and many nieces and nephews.
