Jennifer Lynn Aguirre was born on September 20, 1973, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Russell and Joan Urban. Her family moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1976. Jennifer attended the Ankeny School System graduating from Ankeny High School 1992. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s degree from Central College, in Pella, Iowa and her Master’s in Education from the University of Iowa. Jennifer met the absolute love of her life, Salvador “Chava” Aguirre on an educational study abroad to Merida, Mexico. They were married on January 4, 2001. After Chava’s graduation from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa, they made their home in Chicago, IL, where Jennifer taught Spanish at Evanston High School. Following the birth of their second child, they moved to Ankeny to be close to family. Jennifer taught Spanish at both Ankeny High School and Centennial High School.
Jennifer and Chava lived their lives for their four beautiful children. They spent their free time on basketball courts from coast to coast and in Mexico. Jennifer loved her family above all else and cared deeply for those less fortunate than her.
In addition to her husband Chava and their four children Alejandro, (22), Aurelio (20), Amario (19) and Aliyana (16), Jennifer is survived by her mother and stepfather, Joan and Ralph Stover; her brother Tom, his wife Rachel and children Emily and Caleb; her step siblings, Lynn, Lori, Tracy and Allison; brother-in-law Mario Aguirre, his wife Adriana and their son Mariano; sister-in-law Esther Zamudio Aguirre and her children Eduardo and Carmen; and sisters-in-law, Cheli Zamudio and Felipa Zamudio Aguirre. She is also survived by many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the family to assist in final expenses and causes important to Jennifer.
All who knew and loved Jennifer understood her struggle with mental illness all of her life. It would be her greatest tribute for you to reach out to someone in need.
