Visitation will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, IA 50023, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The funeral will take place at Easton Baptist Church, 5075 NE 23rd Ave, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm, followed by a time of food and fellowship at Easton Baptist Church from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
A Committal Service with Military Funeral Honors will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, IA 50003, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:15 am.
John was born on April 24, 1961, to John “Jack” Emil and JoAnne (Myotte) Kaufmann. He attended Ankeny High School and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on December 1, 1978, and was honorably discharged on January 22, 1991. He was a Lance Corporal.
John worked as a Journeyman Plumber for over 30 years until he retired in March of 2024. John was united in marriage to Pamela Gannaway on March 9, 1996, at Easton Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. There were two children to this union, Brittany and Amber. He enjoyed bowling and playing darts. Visiting on the phone with his family members, especially his son-in-law, Dave Harvey. John liked to travel, especially to Missouri and Colorado with his family. He liked going to Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. John was a member of the Local 33 Plumbers and Steamfitter Union. He was also a member of Easton Baptist Church.
John leaves his loving wife, Pam (Gannaway) Kaufmann; daughter, Brittany (Dave) Harvey and Amber Kaufmann; grandchildren, Cherish Roseanne, Destiny Harley, Anna Marie and Alice Jeanette; sister, Roberta Drake, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, John “Jack” Emil and JoAnne (Myotte) Kaufmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James William and Celta Mae (Norris) Gannaway; sister-in-law, Alice Jeanette Cornelius, and aunt, Elizabeth Louise Stamps.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family in loving memory of John.
