Born on October 23, 2009, to Erik and the late Jessica in the suburbs of Chicago, Kayleb basically hit the ground running with his energy, and his passion for adventure. There was not a jungle gym, throw-up ride, trampoline, water park, or ninja course that he didn't like. That passion for taking risks brought him to both Boy Scouts and youth sports. Kayleb loved to use his strength and agility, whether he was competing, or just outside feeling the wind on his face.
Kayleb's biggest strength was using his quick mind to solve puzzles. If someone asked, "What do we do now?", Kayleb could always be relied upon for getting out of, getting through, or getting off something treacherous. His passion hobbies were all work-to-completion, be it puzzles, Rubik's Cubes, video games, or LEGO.
He was excellent at giving gifts, always finding the perfect gift for Kamden and Stanley, his younger siblings. He cared more about his brother and sister being super-unique than he ever cared if they had anything in common with him.
In recent years, he did what all teenagers do: he pushed the envelope, trying and failing on a thousand hilarious occasions to figure out who he was. There were parts of his body he just shrugged off when he saw a bruise on it, because he didn't know where it could have come from. Next!
One thing Kayleb always knew for sure is that he knew who he was not: Kayleb was complex and not simple. He was passionate and not passive. He was not invisible; his voice mattered. If only he were granted more time to develop it.
Even as his voice was silenced by death, his legacy is loud and clear for those left behind. Use your voice. Get out of, get through, and get off whatever is holding you back. Go live, until you just can't anymore.
In addition to his dad and siblings, Kayleb leaves behind his stepmom, Amy, over 20 aunts, uncles, and cousins, his grandparents, and Marshmallow.
Memorials may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kayleb.
