Margaret L Scott

Margaret Scott, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from cancer at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 with visitation one hour prior at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. 1st Street.

Margaret was born November 26, 1931 in Des Moines to Guy and Edna Andersen. She worked as a secretary at Allstate Insurance for many years. Margaret was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman. She enjoyed crocheting gifts for her family, and visits and letters from her friend Louise. She was blessed with a 75 year friendship with Nora Bell, Shirley, Jeanette, and Doris.

She is survived by her daughters, Arletta (Larry) Hogue of Ankeny, Kim (Craig) Scott-Oxley of Des Moines, Margaret Stefani (Tim Cort) of Ankeny, Laura (Al) Gebhart of Indianola, and Ronni Scott (Kepler Johnson) of Earlham; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her loving dog, Rocky. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; brothers, Granville, Bill, and Guy Jr.; and sister, Alette Shull.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
