Melvin M Reese

Visitation will be 11 am to 1p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Ankeny Funeral Home,1510 West First Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50023. There will be no formal funeral service. Burial of ashes will be held at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny at a later date. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

He was born October 1, 1926, in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Melvin and Grace (Lehman) Reese. He grew up in Mount Ayr and graduated from High School in the area. Melvin met Carolyn Johnson in 1965 and the couple were married in 1970, they were blessed with one daughter, Deb Stott Wiley. The couple remained in Ankeny to work for John Deere. After Carolyn passed away Melvin moved to Davenport to be closer to his daughter.

Melvin will be remembered for his dedication to Carolyn, he also will be remembered for being a hard worker. Carolyn and Mel had a beautiful love story that will be remembered by all who knew them. Melvin also enjoyed camping.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; son, Mike Reese; parents, Melvin and Grace Reese; two brothers, Don and Roy Reese and a sister, Neva Doty. Melvin is survived by his daughters, Sherry Reese and Deb Stott Wiley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Melvin.
