Merilee Voss

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 SE Sharon Drive, Ankeny, Iowa 50021. There will be a Visitation one hour before the service at the church.

Merilee Voss was born on September 11, 1956, to Robert Hans and Bonnie Jeanne (Sohn) Voss in Worthington, Minnesota. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1974. After high school she graduated from Ellsworth Community College obtaining her Associates of Arts Degree. After college, she worked at Younkers in Des Moines as a women’s sportswear buyer. She later worked for Principal Financial Group in Des Moines for 30 years until her retirement in 2017.

Merilee enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with friends and family. She liked to travel and spend time with her dog, Stuffer. Merilee was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny, and she had a deep love for the Lord. She was outgoing and loved to laugh, she was a Cyclone and a Viking fan until the bitter end.

Merilee is preceded in death by her parents and her dog. She is survived by her brother, Greg Voss and his wife, Carla of Seward, Nebraska; a sister, Jolene Balvanz and her husband, Richard, of Marion, Iowa; five nieces and nephews and two first cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family and will be given to a charity of their choosing at a later date in loving memory of Merilee.
