Merle Schwickerath, 52, passed away July 6, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center. A Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10 at Ankeny Presbyterian Church, 317 SE Trilein Dr., Ankeny. Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11 at the church.
Merle was born October 15, 1958 to Paul and Louise (Burgart) Schwickerath in New Hampton, IA. He graduated from UNI and worked for Affiliates Management Company. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a morning regular at the YMCA and a dedicated blood donor. Merle loved his job and those he encountered along the way.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cheryl Schwickerath of Ankeny; children, Chad and Hillary; father, Paul; siblings, Gordon, Vicki (Ken), Glen (Laura), and Judy; mother-in-law, Darlene; sister-in-law Sandy (Buzz); niece, Jenny; nephews, Tim (Shelley) and Kevin; great nephews and nieces, TJ, Cole, Ike, Caitlin and Katarina, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise and father-in-law, Bob.
