Monika Morris

Monika was born on November 10, 1947, in Lippoldshausen, Germany to Werner and Anneliese (Wieland) Arndt. She was raised in Germany and did her schooling there. Monika was united in marriage to Raymond Allen Morris in February of 1968 in Lippoldshausen, Germany. There were two children to this union, Derek and Hilary. She immigrated to the United States when she was 20 and settled in Gering, Nebraska before moving to Ankeny, Iowa.

Monika worked in customer service for the local grocery stores in Ankeny, then later worked for Younkers and Von Maur. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her friends. Most of all, she cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Monika is preceded in death by parents, Werner and Anneliese. Monika is survived by her husband, Ray; two children, Derek (Courtney) Morris and Hilary Smedley; six grandchildren, Sienna, Anneliese, Karissa, Harrison, Elih, and Maxon; two great grandchildren, and two brothers, Erwin and Thomas (Heike) Arndt.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Kavanagh House in Des Moines for their care that they showed Monika and her family during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kavanagh House, 900 56th St, Des Moines, IA 50312 in loving memory of Monika.
