Murlene Swim

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First Street). Murlene will be laid to rest with her husband, Jerry at a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Murlene was born on March 4, 1933, to Kenneth and Irene Kelley. While attending East High School in Des Moines, Murlene met Jerry Swim. The couple was united in marriage on July 8, 1950 in Des Moines and were blessed with three daughters; Sherrie, Susie, and Sandy.

Murlene had a 17 year career with Hy-Vee. During her retirement, Murlene enjoyed sewing, shopping with friends, and being a part of the Red Hat Society. Most of all, she treasured memories and time spent with her family who will all miss her deeply.

Murlene is survived by her daughters, Sherrie Swim, Susie Fox, and Sandy (Scott) James; grandchildren, Amy (Paul) Simpson, Ashley (Aaron) Ezzio, Michele (Chris) Mease, Tyler James, and Tessa James; great-grandchildren, Ethan Simpson, Ella Simpson, Aubree Ezzio, and Autumn Ezzio; sister, Deana Rador; niece, Jamie (Chris) Lane; great-nephews, Chance, Carson, and Caden Lane; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents; son-in-law, Edd Fox; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Fox and Zachary James.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Pointe Hospice.
