Nellie Nelson

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2016, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First Street in Ankeny) with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Nellie Irene Nelson was born November 7, 1940, in Jasper County, Iowa to Arnold and Bessie (De Kraai) Duinink. She grew up in Lacey, Iowa where she received her education.

On March 19, 1961, Nellie was united in marriage to Everett Ray Nelson in New Sharon, Iowa. The couple made their permanent home in Bondurant, Iowa and were blessed with six children. Nellie enjoyed embroidering, reading, solving puzzles, and baking. She was the Den Mother to the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America Troop 10 in Bondurant, and her home was often the afterschool house that children came to. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart.

Nellie will be deeply missed by her children, Edward Nelson, Ray Nelson, Robert (Cheryl) Nelson, Donna Foster, Jerry Nelson, and Tina (Charles) Kuntz; grandchildren, Nicole (Chad) Rawson, Chad Foster, Amanda (Mark) Hamilton, Stephanie Nelson, Rachael Nelson, Jasmine Nelson, Megan Nelson, Brett Nelson, Trent Kuntz, Katie Kuntz, and Charlotte Kuntz; great-grandchildren, Ella Rae Rawson and Adaline Rawson; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; parents, Arnold and Bessie Duinink; and siblings, Martha Bogard, Pearl Felton, Lucille Bogard, Clarence Duinink, Alvie Duinink, and two brothers in infancy.
